Worship at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church
Our Saturday evening worship service follows the traditional Lutheran worship order, but the service elements are simplified in many cases. The music is a mix of contemporary and traditional songs, and is led from the piano. This is a more casual worship service than what we do on Sunday morning, and the pastors usually do not wear vestments at these services.
Two service times on Sunday Morning
Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion
Sunday morning offers a more involved liturgy with choirs and special music offerings. The pastors and other worship leaders wear vestments. The music is most often led from the organ, but brass instruments, bells and others instruments are often used. A children’s message is offered at most Sunday morning services.
What to wear to worship at St. John
There is no dress code for attending worship at St. John. The most important thing is that you actually gather with others Christians for worship, prayer, Word and Sacrament.
Saturdays
Although there is no “dress code” for any of our worship services, at the Saturday evening service more often people dress in more casual clothing or work clothes.
Sundays
Although there is no “dress code” for any of our worship services, at the Sunday morning services more often people dress in some of their better clothes. This might mean, for example, that a man might choose to wear khaki slacks rather than jeans, or may even choose to wear a sport coat or suit. Women and girls are generally in worship wearing skirts, dresses, or pants of some sort.
WE WELCOME CHILDREN AT WORSHIP
On most Sundays there is Children’s Sermon offered by our pastors or other gifted adults. This takes place during the worship service.
The nursery at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church is located on the basement level of Education building and is accessible by the stairway to the east of the sanctuary or by the elevator located just east of the sanctuary. The nursery is a place where parents can gather to watch their children play, as well as a place they can feel confident to leave their children, knowing they will be in a safe, secure and in a fun environment. The nursery is designed primarily for babies and toddlers; older children, such as siblings, are encouraged to attend the service with their parents. Sometimes older preschoolers and very young elementary aged children spend some time in the nursery. If you have any questions, stop by on Sunday morning and speak with the Nursery Staff. Nursery Hours: Sundays 10:15 a.m. until the end of worship. The nursery is also available for your use at other times, but parents will need to attend to their children at those times. The sound system from the sanctuary includes a speaker in the nursery for the families to listen to the service.

Baby Changing
Room – Nursing Room
A room is available near the main sanctuary entrance for parents to use as a baby changing station. If you desire a quiet and/or discreet spot to feed your baby a rocking chair is also in the room for parent to use. If you are unsure where this room is, please feel free to ask the ushers where the baby room is. Baby Changing stations are also available in the men’s and women’s restrooms on the 100 floor of the education building.

All levels of the church building are accessible by indoor ramp or elevator.
A wheelchair ramp into the church building is located inside the ground level, covered entrance in parking lot behind the building. The sanctuary worship space is on the same level as the top of the ramp. An accessible restroom is located just off the Narthex (Lobby) of the sanctuary. Additionally, there is an elevator at the top of the ramp to provide access to all levels of the building.

Parking is available in both of our lots, and along the street. One lot is directly behind the building, and this provides several handicap spots as well as easy access to the ramp and elevator. The other lot for St. John Ev. Lutheran Church is across Church Street, just west of our building, and directly south of St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church.
