St. John Service Project

The Mission and Ministry committee and the Christian Education Committee would like to invite all members of our congregation to donate some time and/or meals.  This is a great opportunity for individuals and families to be an example of service and volunteerism to others.   The Habitat for Humanity broke ground as they build a new home for a single mother and her son at 545 Main St., Clay Center, Ohio.  We are seeking volunteers to help in one of two of the following ways on the workdays, which are Wednesday’s and Saturdays:

1.  Volunteers can help build the home.  If interested in building the site, you must be 18 years of age.  The building workday is from 8:00 – 3:00 and there is a break for lunch between 11:30 – 12:00.

2. Other volunteers are needed to help prepare and deliver meals.   Individuals and/or families are asked to prepare a meal and deliver it to the site during lunch time.  You can either  stay, serve, and clean up the meal or provide the food in disposable containers, so nothing is lost.

If you and/or your family are available anytime during the month of August, September, or October, please contact Shelley Asmus, Executive Director at the Habitat office to reserve a date to volunteer.  She can be contacted at 419-734-7074 or at the office at 161 W. Water St., Suite B, Oak Harbor.  They are open Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
